Showing a landowner the inside workings of a beehive today, had some honey on my finger so licked it, and OUCH :eek: there was a bee sting on my finger which got me on the tongue.

Not wanting to freak the lady I didn't flinch, gritted my teeth and continued the conversation.
    Supreme mind control!

Conversation ended 2 or 3 minutes later and I was able to jump in the truck to look in the mirror and get it out.

Been stung up the nose a few times and inside the ear, but best memory serves this has been a first for getting stung on the tongue!

I got 3 separate stings inside the nostril in 1 week a while ago. That was eye watering each time.

I think if that happened to me both hives and all components and occupants would be in the pond really fast.

I got 4 stings in one ear once.... Putting hives out at work before I became a beek... I was being a little cocky thinking that I didnt need the vale on... All was fine until I picked up the last pallet.... Which the beek who dropped off had warned was 'a little grumpy'... Started getting dive bombed, clipped a post with the pallet and the bees went at me lol I couldn't walk in a strait line for days.....

I got stung on the tongue.
It swelled up but went down very fast. I could not talk properly for a couple of hours.
It healed faster than stings in most other places

I've never been stung on the tongue but my father has and he reckons it was the most painful he had ever had and he's been keeping bees for over 70 years so he should know. How would you rate it on the pain scale Alistair.?

If it makes you feel better, I once got stung on the hooha during pollination, then wee'd on my sleeve, and had to work with a wet arm all night.

    Ouch!

Not as bad as up the nose. Possibly since the sting had been on my finger it did not deliver the full dose of poison, still a good belt though.

I really struggled to see what happened there, then remembered something similar happening to a guy I worked with on an aircraft paintstrip once. His was paintstripper on the toilet seat, ending with a :crap: on his shoulder. Didn't realise for nearly an hour but could "taste" something through his respirator
The wife heard me snort when I read this and thought I'd ripped one off

Because when your a chick in a beesuit you have to squat and hold your sleeves then do a weird crab walk..
And if it's dark and a bee walks up off your boot and stings you you forget why you're holding your sleeve and bad things happen to it lol

I did nearly drink a bee in a can of Coke once too, I was fortunate enough to spit it out before it got a chance to sting me.

Lucky indeed. A sting in the throat might be a whole lot more uncomfortable than one on the tongue.

If you have to bee stung and it seems inevitable as a beek...

So far my preferred place is
    The top of my thumb...:)
