Hallo. I have supered my nuc, ( 5 frame medium 3/4 ) when doing so, I moved up 1 partially drawn out frame, replaced that with a bare frame in the bottom, They have happily filled in the bare frame in the bottom, and the queen is laying, how ever they have abandoned the frame "upstairs" (lost a wee patch of brood that have opened up. ) I would really like them to draw some more frames before the really cold weather sets in, I am in a very urban area so there is a lot of forage still about. and I am feeding them syrup. I am worried about them wintering at such a small size. Only hive at present so can't do a recombine. Before this I ran top bar hives so I haven't encountered this before. Would I be better off moving all of the drawn frames up? and having them work down? cheers
Hi, my husband and I have purchased our first hive. We have a few beekeeping friends who have inspected it and advised us that the next step is to purchase a nucleus...We live in Kinloch Taupo and would appreciate any advice as to where or whom we can purchase from, or if there are any swarms? Kind regards Iggy
