What’s the most successful queen producing & mating combo out there? I’ve researched a number of different ways but I’m curious to hear from those with experience. I’d be keen to make at least 50 mated queens annually.

Am i likely to get significant gains if i buy a queen vs a pauper split. I understand the down sides of pauper split queens but is there really big gains to be made. A lot of what ive read and watched puts big emphasis on diversity of drones she mates with rather than her genetics specifically. Hypothetically if she isnt much cop i wont want to breed from her but if shes a well performing queen in second year im happy to have her off spring. Also could you take out older queen cells to get better chance of queen fed more jelly

Wondering if someone with experience can help me regarding the colour of queens. Are all Italian queens light coloured and all Carnolian's dark (blackish) or is there variation? I have one queen that came with a colony I got off a hobbyist with a lot more experience than me and it is quite dark, but he reckoned it was an Italian... I'm just not too sure that it actually is Italian although most of the bees in the hive look Italian and they will all be her offspring now as she has been in place for 2 months.
