[USER=4057]@Phil46[/USER] No they are for getting the queen to lay in a frame on a specific day so you know that when you take the frame out on day 4 the grubs are 3 days old and the correct age for grafting. The solid frame of capped brood is just a nice by-product of having the queen confined. I rotate them to the other side of the hive or out to another hive or nuc depending on how strong the hive is.

  2. Spiral cutter heads are great. I dont have them myself but when I was running a planer mill I purchased a few of them.Easy to turn the individual carbide cutters around if damaged rather than having a skilled machinist grinding knives. Spiral cutter heads are quieter as well.
