  1. I know a bit about tools and tool covers but what's a hive toolw
  2. Bees are insects that have survived for millions of years. don't think 8 weeks will be a survival threaterning event
  3. "Clover or trefoil are common names for plants of the genusTrifolium (Latin, tres "three" + folium "leaf"), consisting of about 300 species of plants in the leguminous pea family Fabaceae. The genus has a cosmopolitan distribution; the highest diversity is found in the temperate Northern Hemisphere, but many species also occur in South America and Africa" Based on the above quote clover is not a native plant of new Zealand. So using the amha reasoning we need to find another name for our honey produced from the clover plant Any sugesstions ? lets start with tri folium honey
  4. "Champagne is a sparkling wine produced from grapes grown in the Champagne region of France following rules that demand, among other things, secondary fermentation of the wine in the bottle to create ...Wikipedia" Ie champagne comes from Champagne and is made by a process devloped in Champagne Manuka honey comes from a manuka plant Champagne does does not come directly from a plant John Rawcilff needs to check his facts
  5. If comes form a Manuka plant it must be Manuka honey Next someone will tell us we can not call clover honey clover honey because it comes from Timbuktu
  6. James Us beekeepers who are constity having a paul henry done to us by the gold diggers have known that for years It really beats me why they come with bigger offers evey year and then dont pay as promised and/or dont turn up again. I have observed some farms change beekeepers every year for the past 5 years or so. Anybody know why comvitas share price has been dropping over the 6 months or so ?
  7. There is also a minium standard to be met. No good saying I dont have animals therefore I dont need a fence
  8. I think the saying goes someting like what goes round comes around
  9. Its not quite that stright forward. Requirement for a RMP depends what country you plan to export to or if it is for domestic use etc Just like EU lisiting, which is another level of paper work if you want to export to the EU. Many packers require you to be on the EU list. But if the honey is not going to the EU you dont need it You just have to be clear on what markets you are looking to sell into which dictates what level of paper work you need
  10. We have the real estate agents doing the same thing. Funny thing is the experianced long time agents have been seen shaking there heads at the fighting beekeepers driving up the prices. Heard of a local getting a large proffit sharing bill this last season. The farm has naff all manuka. The real estate agents tried to sell it a couple of years ago with adds about umf 5 honey paying interest on the mortage . It didnt sell
  11. When the southern interlopers turn up they make unrealistic promises that the local knows cannot be kept. When the season is over the landover gets grumpy kicks the interlopers to touch and go's looking for someone else who tells the same tail I have observed some blocks of land have 5 different hives on in the last 8 year's. Know of a farmer chase a beekeeper though the courts countless more feeling riped off etc etc. If there was gold in the hills why would all this happen .then there is the lid lifting that starts
  12. RMP risk management program need if you plan to export honey to a lot of countries, some dont need it, not needed for some domestic sales. But the likes of pack n save etc require it if you want to sell honey their shops
