  1. Our condolences. Well done spotting symtoms.
  2. Could someone translate, I,m not fluent in Phil.
  3. Well well, you just described a similar scenario to the area i occupy, except i have at few apiaries next to these so an so's. They reduce there work load by not maintaining the health of there hives, but my work load increases. when sping arrives they,ll replace their dead outs with live hives. And so the cycle begins again.
  4. A lot of poorly maintained hives, thats the reason.
  5. I think there is alot more mites around than in previous years, treatments just need to be followed up with more treatments. Mites are just entering hives and re-establishing to regulary not to be treating less than 4 times a year with synthetics Seems to be how it is in my neck of the woods.
  6. I think Grant was having a laugh, 10,000 posts and you get one vote.
  7. If i found anything like that near my setups, I'd be on the war path for sure
  8. So whats the general consensus, Is it to late to do another graft ?
  9. Absolutely right, Its extreme at this end of the country, already had some PMS issues creep in. The worst Ive seen it, And the most hives around me ever. Its going to be a busy autumn fixing the damage.
  10. Their a pain in the bum when they make nests in exhaust pipes of lawn mower, chainsaws, weedwackers, jackets that havnt been worn in a while ets etc.
  11. Did you hang your toes over that line again.
  12. I completely agree. Would have also added lack of values and ethics.
  13. Well that was gloomy reading. Last reports I had heard were that were well into remission, however must have read some false reports ie journalists talking directly to mpi. Sounds like the Govt only wants too hear good news, and not report the reality
  14. Cripes, we live in some uncertain times at the moment, this whole levy dispute/debate debacle... and now m4tts become the pink cats guinee pig, what next...
  15. I agree. The guy their talking about is a top bloke, very approachable and cooperative the best on the ApiNZ team in my oppinion.
  16. Cripes, 21000 hectares effected so far.
  17. There is still some un answered queries that should be answered/clarified by @ApiNZ themselves.
  18. That news item will repeat on the late news tonight.
  19. Well yeh, Best Practice is to return wets back to hive they originated from. Check hives for any visual sign of AFB before removing honey.
  20. Yeh it was kind of a loaded question anyway, Best practice ,what all well meaning bekeepers are already doing, not sure i should have to pay someone to tell me how to do what im already doing. I may have misinterpreted myself. Good point about the compliance, did,nt think about that angle, sort of things that come up in boardroom meetings when there throwing ideas around.
  21. Just seen a clip on ONE NEWS on beekeeping, mainly based around an introduction of a comodity levy from APINZ. Karin Kos fronted to say that the levy would be benificial in recomending better beekeeping practices. So what are better Beekeeping Practices and how would paying a levy help a commercial beeker with these practices I already get my best beekeeping practices from the knowledgable folk on this website. for free
  22. Just out of curiosity, what was the fuel consumption like after the re-map ?
