  1. Humidity is as important or even more than temperature if you have a dish of water near the heat source it doesn't matter even if a 2 to 3 degress flux in temp no harm will come to the cells . this is why old fridges make the best incubators. chose one that the tray guides are the width of frames so straight out of the hive other than brushing the bees off in they go . mount to basic light bulb sockets down the bottom with enough room for a dish of water. add a egg thermostat . all done .60 watt bulbs are the normally the go. super sensitive thermostat sound great but it also means a lot
  2. drones quite happily drift from hive to hive
  3. you have a lot of hope in claiming a pest plant in your country that most likely came from Australia. if nz companies come to me to buy manuka why shouldn't i . you have supplied a product which a lot of it on the world market has been proven fake yet you want to accuse me of selling honey that has the active component. your patent doesn't apply to most foreign countries and in the real world has little meaning which is probably why their over here buying as much as they can get there hands on, this is how i see it,

  5. yes there is areas that come in extremely strong probably in area about double the size of new zealand plus another in the top end of australia which is not used yet.australia also have about 30 varieties that is not active but has probiotic properties which is another market which is taking off.there is over 85 varieties found in aus and new ones still being found ,if the batch has some gum in it but still in some cases a 1000 percent stronger in mgo than nz can you tell me the reason why it should not be blended with nz product to boost it for market demand . i wish you had more var
  6. anyone else you want to blame for your product down fall . calling a name for manuka which by the way was called that by the aboriginal in Tasmania is going to magically cure your woes .even comitva buys australian manuka because we have many types in which the strength makes yours like lolly water. by buying and mixing with your honey they can match what the industry wants.do you think a company like comitva can sit around and keep going and wait for you to have a good season . by buying australian manuka comitva is ensuring your industry survives not removing it . simple fact is there
  7. it is hard but the down side of becoming a seller on the world market like Australia is that you become open to world price fluctuations and these can have a shadow effect on domestic prices. Currently honey prices is about $4 Australian so there is still some downward movement left .
  8. Australia has no standard i wish it was true i would suddenly have won lotto .
  9. lots of old fridges are the perfect width to hold frames of cell bar two 60 w bulbs mounted at bottom with a plastic tray of water put thermosat at top you have a place for 500 cells and keep your sawdust warm too
  10. weather for mating was proably cloudy and crap up high
  11. re dip cells into a small deep frier and shake in basket it only takes a second ,other wise sooner or later you may get black cell virus in a batch or some other upset .it only takes a second to sterilise have a uniform start base
  12. while you have one variety of manuka there is over 55 now in australia if this turns into a bun fight which when tested about half are active and in that half some are over a thousand times more active than your variety . while i must congratulate you on your marketing and fight to keep this market a lot of strong active manuka is being purchased by n z companies to strengthen up yours . there is such a shortage which is why nz companies are buying here . you benefit by increasing activity in yours and we sell also

    10 000 pieces

great work but 500 dollars can get you10,000 plastic cell cups . wash in sunlight soap for 10 minutes then dip in a deep frier full of water with a little bit of wax and there you have it , exactly the same result plus the cell cups can be redipped over and over again if you wish , unfortunately time has made you to important for mundane jobs.
