  1. Hi, I'm in the Waitakere Ranges (Auckland), I've got 2 hives with each 2 full depth brood boxes, both overflowing with bees. One hive had after 24 hrs (sunny day) a mite count of 9, the other 7. Last treatment was in May with Bayvarol. I'm keen to try my Mite Away Quick Strips. Any advise if this is too soon in the season?
  2. Thank you so much, it is great to hear from experienced people like you who take the time to write answers #feelinggrateful
  3. Cool, then we'll probably meet at one of their field days!
  4. Hi all, The last posts about transporting hives were from 2013 and in summer... So again the question of transporting hives. All advise on transporting two hiives in Auckland (from North Shore to West Auckland), in a week or two (August) appreciated. These would be my first bees, so I'd like to get it right and give the ladies least disturbance as possible. Options: in the boot of the car, in the back of the van or in a trailor behind the van. Thank you!
  5. Hi Kristy, I'm in Waitakere as well, and a newby beekeeper. Great to hear your story and please keep sharing. Are you a member of the Auckland Beekeeping Club by any chance?
  6. You must be going through the same steps as I do...just posting the questions a bit sooner. Thanks for that, the answers make interesting reading material!
  7. Thank you! I'm a beginnner and need all the warnings I can get
