Done heaps like this, its probably the best way overall. I use a sheet over the windshield to block out the glare/ heat, and make it easier to see the grubs.

That's good to know @Philbee. The first time around I did it in the shed at a bench. Today was too miserable to risk having the grubs out of the hive any longer than necessary. @Daley put up a photo a while back which gave me the idea.

Ah it is the Rob Stockley who use to be my neighbour :) I like the setup, I am going to have to give this a go in the near future. Do you prep the queen cells in anyway, or just place the egg straight in? Looking good mate!

Could be @bryce, could be. The cells were in the starter 24 hrs before grafting. Other than that no prep. Just try to get as much royal jelly as I can with each grub.

@bryce use the cab heater to keep the cab warm. If its dry I put a very wet towell on the Dash to maintain humidity

@Rob Stockley So in the 24 hours, did the bees actually do much in the way of cell prep? Slight wax layer? Merely curious regarding their efficiency now.

@Philbee Thanks for the idea, I think I might have overlooked the humidity part and there is no way I want to have angry bees dancing around me in an enclosed space :)

@bryce they clean them up and walk on them so they smell like the rest of the hive. The bees on the frame I'm working are nurse bees. It takes a lot to make them angry hence no veil in the enclosed space.
