Beau Fraser 61 Posted April 13, 2016 Hi Trev, thanks for the video. Is there any limit to the number of boxes you can put on to the hive to clean out. Say you took two boxes of honey off it could you put the two boxes of wets back on it at the same time. How wide is the window to do this. In other words before winter sets in. Link to comment
Trevor Gillbanks 6,846 Posted April 13, 2016 I have put 4 boxes on at once but they make a better job with 2 boxes. They will clean them out in about 48 hours if you want to take them off quick. I like to do it straight away as I don't have to store the wets for any period of time. It is easier/cleaner storing the boxes when they are dry. Link to comment
JayBee 19 Posted January 7, 2017 Hi @Trevor Gillbanks - if you don't have a spare hive mat (and you're not particularly handy in the woodworking department!), do you think a piece of corflute cut to size with a hole in the middle (for internal robbing) would be a good temporary measure to use for this set-up? Thanks. Link to comment
Trevor Gillbanks 6,846 Posted January 7, 2017 Hi @JayBee Yes that is fine but also put on an empty honey super (3/4 box) to create the space. It is the space and the small hole that the bees think the wets are not part of the hive. They then go up and clean out the wets. Link to comment
