I use lot's of other treatments. This is just how I treat a new swarm. Vaporising must be done before there is capped brood. I have not observed any damage/effect on metal hive components. However the iron can melt plastic components (but only if the head touches them.

This is very informative. I haven't done anything with this vapour stuff as I a) haven't got the gadget yet and b) wouldn't know how. Does this work with Hive Doctor bases or do you just use this method while they're still in your wooden swarm nuc/hive and use other control methods for regular maintenance?
