Hives Manawatu - Hive tool rebates - YouTube

A rainy day spent in the workshop machining hive tool rebates in beehive boxes. Using a jig on a basic shop made router table to cut a bevelled rebate near the corners of a hive box before assembly. The rebate allows you to lever the boxes apart without damaging them.

@ThomasR - not too sure what you mean sorry. Are you thinking an angled bit going up into the top of the handhold to get a better grip, down from the bottom for water runoff, or something else?

@ThomasR just re-read this, do you mean a video on machining the handholds on the ends? I have bought these boxes in already machined. I'm pretty sure @dansar has done a video on machining the handholds though...

@dansar that's exactly where I learned to do them. I dip my fingers in water with each new end to get a better grip. Works a treat (y)
