I was looking for some ides to make a couple of more ornate beehives as they are going in our edible garden.

I found that Fortnum and Mason in London have these on their roof (they are not so much beehives, but more big boxes with the beehives)... and that was pretty much all the inspiration i needed!

After a month or so of modifying some bee boxes, learning how to cut perfect curves in wood, and attempting to bend plywood (don't! you can by `bendable' plywood) the fruits of my labour are as below.

I'm quite pleased with the outcome and will be transferring my 2 nucs into them this afternoon.

I tried embedding them but it can't have worked...

Hope this works.

They are really beautifully.

Don't they have to burn hives in England If they get AFB

Awesome looking hives. I am glad I don't have to work the bees on that slope when they are 4 or 5 boxes high and full of honey.

Best wishes.

We have some like that, not quite that angled but definitely nowhere to put anything you dig yourself a shelf and it saves you a lot of trouble trying to hold them up with your leg during inspections

I reckon you could dip those.

You would certainly want to after all that effort.

When ever I see beautifully made artistic hives a little voice in me says , imagine if you had to burn it, how unfortunate that would be .

I hear ya. But I haven't had to burn a normal one yet so the optimist in me says go for it.
