jeremy thomas 26
jeremy thomas submitted a new resource: [plain]BeeHive Health And Status Monitoring[/plain] - [plain]Monitor your hive temp and queen status and weight, with options of weather and solar.[/plain] Some Key points on the Product:1-Can this system monitor and track per individual hive: Tracking of hive data/performance, that is really easy to do in the Arnia user interface. Each monitor and scale has a unique serial number which is assigned to a hive. You can generate graphs for selected date periods enabling trend observation and comparative analysis of data within a colony as well as between different colonies and different sites. The value of this data will be immense. So for... Read more about this resource...
Grant 4,298
I see the weather side of things plugs into a small station with rainfall sensors etc. Can this be adapted to use a station thats already been setup to WMO standards (ie a VP2+) ? Also not sure why the power pack relies solely on batteries - any other unit like this would be solar with battery backup - there is an option ? This would be ideal for NZ I notice its a 2G solution for the UK. We'd need to make sure the roaming frequency was compatible for NZ urban/rural

Are you interested in setting up the system?
Grant 4,298
Are you interested in setting up the system? It depends on cost. I wasn't actually aware that you were importing these as the reference was to a UK site. My VP2+ is 'wireless' to its console and is sited between 2 hives, so this would be ideal, especially if it could also use the additional VP2+ sensors for inside the hive. The solar option I'd be keen on would be solar to recharge batteries, with a 2nd battery backup in the event of insufficient solar/charge. My current system has run for 3 years on 1 set of lithium batteries using this method.
