The burning Pyre

Recommended Posts

It's been a stunningly beautifull day  here in the Valley of the Teachers.

The greenhouse is prepped and ready for the pumpkin seeds.

My youngest had a mate up for the day and we took guns out into the tussock to blast away at the rolling target.

And I had a thought.

Last week I read an article about a do it yourself funeral, a cremation in the back blocks of Golden Bay ....

And I thought that might not be a bad sort of bee diversion.

Earthy cremations in the hills, fuelled with old bee combs and pine, with views to "die" for.

When I  was a younger fellah setting out on Daring Deeds around the globe I wrote my first will.

And It went like this.

"If I fail to return, then bring my bones  back to the beach at Scoraig and pile me up with drift wood and torch me at low tide, so that my ashes may be  washed away into the bigger picture.

What ever monies are left in my resources , then they are to go to making sure my mates make the beach, that the whisky flows ,and life is celebrated. "

So ..... I think we can do that here, and if anyone has an aversion to big holes and crematoriums, I think we can do something pretty special for you here with love and Bees wax.

Pyres like that with beeswax would however take many of us back to the draconian days of real beeswax candles in all powerful churches run by the morally bankrupt and perverted. Would take a far bit of whiskey to wash that memory away, never mind grieving for the departed!

Poteen traditionally produced in the foothills, in remote areas.  Certainly would add to the ambience of the creamtorium

Well, I got lucky the other day ..... sold some honey to me mate for cash ..... and what did we do ..... went and bought booze and food.

This is a very nice drop ...... my boy found it in the food store ..... smells like a pilsner, but has a warm and syrupy taste.

Not quite as rough as a potcheen....

Thank you, another new word. Imagine that causing a considerable collection of messy people - the type I have really only seen at the end of a long yacht race, with a raft of boats, and no-one driving home afterwards, but that was always dark rum.

Big retirement community , I should imagine funeral services will be a growing industry.

Better future than beekeeping .

Industrial diamonds have a better long term future than coal .

Be a diamond , last forever ,  be around to watch the universe evolve.
