Anybody tried the Varroa Buster yet???

Recommended Posts

Just looking on YouTube and saw a thing called the Varroa Buster that's put in the hive for a year that the bees rub against to grind the skin of mites which causes the mite to dehydrate and die.

varroa mites usually hide inside capped brood (most of them) or underneath a bees abdomen. If you see the occasional mite on top of a bee it usually just means that there are way too many of them.

theres no way they would be able to just rub the mites off a number of times big enough to make any difference.

so in short: no it wont work

Getting rid of Varroa is not a one hive solution.  you need all your local apiaries working together to reduce the population.  The problem you have is not you, its your neighbour.  They have a weak varroa infested colony and your bees will rob it and bring home the "bacon"!

This device has been on sale for quite a few years, didn't catch on and there is a reason for that.
