Looking for an ID on this tree 

It was teeming with bees yesterday. 

They were working on the small brown flower things looked like they may have been collecting both nectar and pollen but not sure.

It is of the Elm/Birch /Alder family.

I don’t know specifically which tree it is

A few weeks ago my silver birch tree was teaming with wasps and bees .

I had no idea what they were after .

Is the red rata vine flowering up there yet? It has just started down here.

Red rata vine starting here to. Thousands of buds about to burst out so hopefully after this weeks rain we get a bit of sun.Am sending a sample of my white rata in for testing Bighands. If it's the good stuff I will drop some off on ya ute when I see it around town next for ya to taste.

Good on you.Science will tell you what sort of honey it is.I remember way back the S.Rata had no sign of any flower at all but the bees produced boxes of the stuff.

Have been lookin hard at s rata but can't see any sign of flowering.bees still bringing in a bit of something. Not 100%sure what?

Yes it has started .

Unsure yet how big a flower it will be .

Last yr was pretty good .

It is not as reliable as white rata .

What would the hives I saw in the haast pass last week be collecting .

Does silver beech have honey dew .

Not that I know of. They would be collecting white rata then red rata vine,thats all I know that is flowering this time of year.
