50% OA/GLY

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

after some help.

i made a batch of 50% OA -GLY w/w. And left overnight.  It was warm and clear after dissolving.

put straight onto strips warm. Checked today, and the bottom layer is soaked, but I’m left with a slurry of OA so no way of knowing how much is actually soaked in.

A: is there a salvage for the remaining 7 staples that didn’t get soaked.

B: should I just repeat. Maybe at a lower %.

These were/are going to be my winter staples.

Your 50% isn't 50%, but what you have created is a saturated solution.

Add your slurry to some more warm glycerine and dissolve it. Only thing is, there is no telling what strength it will be

Ive learned that GL will not hold 50% OA

As Matt says you have a saturated solution which is somewhere in the mid 40s, maybe a bit more but is doesnt matter.

Providing the staples are fully soaked and weigh around the 30g mark they are fine to use.

Just wipe the slurry off them

Those are some excellent looking staples by the way.

What would happen if you warned the goop? Presumably it would re-liquify?

@Josh Where did you get you OA from? What did you pay for it?

Cheers

TradeMe, I buy it about 500g at a time. I find the best price incl freight.

I don’t buy larger volumes because it attracts water & gets wet

I am a worrier Pink Cat but thats not my point here.
I put a lot of business through NZ Couriers and we have personal connections with one of their senior staff

There is no way we can sent DGs through them.

When we call the other companies that the likes of Ceracell and other TM traders are using we get the run around so cant help but think there are some special deals going on.

Doesn't bother me too much as I can send 25KG bags through Mainfreight and beat most suppliers easily so as long as someone is able to service the small guys its all good as far as Im concerned.

BTW my 25kg price is $5.00/kg plus freight

Mainfreight is a Carrier not a Courier service

You would not send a 1kg package with Mainfreight

I'm just pointing out NZ Couriers and Mainfreight are both Mainfreight Ltd.  Irrelevant I know. I once had trouble with NZ couriers not visiting me, ended up conversing with Mainfreight ceo and got it fixed within a day...

Don't blame them, must be a bit odd delivering stuff to a guy with big yellow eyes running around in a furry pink suit.

Put it this way,

A minimum freight cost is between 20-37 dollars depending on destination.

OA is say around $5 /kg

would someone pay 25-42 dollars for 1kg of OA?

On this basis I would suggest that a 25kg bag would be the ideal minimum size.
Ceracell sells small lots on Trademe and have the freight sorted
