anniiee 25
Probably a stupid question but my hives have used up all their stores I'm currently feeding them feedbee patties, do I need to also feed them sugar syrup? I'd assumed not because I made the patties with sugar syrup but they don't seem to be storing any?
yesbut 6,230
I dunno about the patties. If the weather is ok & the bees are flying I wouldn't be worried about feeding. Different story maybe if you're looking down the barrel of a week of solid crud & your bees have lots of brood.
Dane Attwood 26
If they have no nectar stores then feed them sugar but only until the flow starts... so small amounts often
tommy dave 1,184
no stores? easy answer. feed sugar syrup. next.
Ali 546
Check the upper corners of the brood frames @anniiee, if there is little or no nectar present they will starve if you don't feed syrup pronto. A hive can crash quickly so if in doubt feed e'm syrup till they are getting enough on their own.
