The bees are relatively quiet now. Out on warm days but not in a big way. Seeing wasps raiding the honey stores at one site. Next visit I'll be sure to have the time and tools to locate and deal with the nests.

Being busy using as much free power as i can melting wax.

Since joining a power company for 29 days I am paying for 358 KWh ($0.27 /KWh $0.34/day inc gst) and using 422 KWh free power. I have set up 5 wifi switch capable of handling 3KW each with timer and power consumption monitors. Awaiting delivery of more wifi switches. DIY home automation.

Next project to use more free power is either a converted oven to melt the wax on frames or a steam chest to do stack of boxes.

Anyone wanting free power, PM me your email and will send a link.

@Kiwifruiter " Hives are a little light on stores so will prob make up some candy boards to throw around to give the bees some extra stores over winter and be ready come spring to throw some serious sugar syrup around. I would rather not feed heavily in spring but needs must."

Reply: like this on my phone.

Just got back from dealing to massive wasp nest found in kauri log buried in bank.

imagine your absolute best hive entrance in the height of summer with bees coming and going and it would almost compare to this bloody thing for wasps coming and going and that was before I stirred them up.

Wasps have been taking full advantage of tight brood clusters and stealth pilfering my bees somethin stupid

I would say they have done very well from my bees this season. but not anymore, hooray

More use of my free power. First time doing it this way. Oven warming drawer at the bottom. Oven baking dish inside. Timber and propolis mat as strainer. Hook up wall paper steamer. Cover with plastic so condensate goes into floor drain.
