NZBF Hive inspection when there are wasps around

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have a lot of wasps around at the moment, but need to carry out hive inspections.

Is there any advice on how to do this, without getting too many wasps trying to/getting into the hives.

Or, is it just... dot it quickly!

Thanks

Carlton

Do it quickly. But better still, get rid of the wasps.

Unfortunately wasp central in the Waitakeres this time of year... I have bait traps out which are catching hundreds but still wasps buzzing round the hives.

Cover as much as you can, work efficiently and as quickly by planning in your mind what you are looking for before you open up. Think about possible scenarios and solutions so that you can act quickly once the hive is open.

Close up your entrances to discourage them (the wasps) from storming the front door after you've shown them the larder.
