NZBF Autumn Re-Queening

Recommended Posts

I have always re-queened in Spring and am considering doing this in Autumn for the first time.

I have some questions which I am interested in everyone's opinion and experience:

1. What are the advantages/disadvantages?

2. What would be the latest time to autumn re-queen in Canterbury?

3. Cells or mated queens?

I have always used cells up til now.

I use cells. I like them because it creates a brood gap kind of where I want one (less old bees going into winter that will not survive) plus our weather is a lot more settled in autumn giving us better weather windows....
