Tracheal mite: internal bee parasite
What's New in Version 1.0
Tracheal mite was identified for the first time on the Isle of Wight in the English Channel in 1919. The first recorded outbreak in the USA was in 1984, and although all apparently infected hives were destroyed at the time, the pest continued to spread throughout that country. Tracheal mite is now well established in all countries with a significant beekeeping industry, with the exception of New Zealand, Australia, Norway and Sweden (cf. Figure 1).
