With the accelerated rate of change in the environment of our bees and the threats they have to deal with, the mere fact that you are here, reading this, an active (or even lurking) member of a forum dedicated to NZ bees puts you ahead of the class.

As someone who spends a lot.. ok, too much. . time keeping track of things-bees, I'm interested in how connected we are... what resources we are all tapping into.

If I've done it right, the following poll will let you select multiple options - please select all that apply to you, and feel free to add extra detail in a reply post.

ok, so I've kicked it off. Everything is a 'yes' for me except for the second and third options.

I'm an NBA member, so option 2 doesn't apply, but at this point I'm not a member of BIG - I'd like to be, but at this stage the added cost is outside our scale.

LOL ok, I didn't realise the poll wouldn't directly indicate how many people had responded.

But with a bit of math I make it seven respondents so far - six of whom are connected to a local club. Very cool.

We're over a hundred members here though - need to hear from the rest of you. please. :)

Thank you. I am a new beekeeper and I will join a local club if there is going to be one :)
  9. Judy, Not sure where are located but check out this site:-

Hopefully there is a club nearby, its worth joining to help you network with local beekeepers.

    Thanks...Gary

Unfortunately there is no club in Rotorua but I slowly get to know a few beekeepers around here. I have only 1 hive and am managing fine with the help of this forum :)

Looking for locals in Tauranga to connect with.
learning on the run so to speak, via this forum and reading, and would like to contact others for a chat. 027 544 2882 txt or call if you wish to meet.

I find a good way to connect is the man I buy bee gear from. He's been in the business forever and always has time for a chat and to share a lifetime of advice, and there are often other beekeepers coming and going. If you are in the Dunedin area, I usually go to Bill Ross from Bee Supplies, at Allanton. I imagine other suppliers around the country are also keen to develop new customers by sharing their knowledge (or just nice folk who like to help).
