hey there i live in the te puke area in the bay of plenty and am a qualified builder (carpenter) who is sick of the construction industry and am keen to get into the bee industry. this is my first step into enquiring about working with bees, i have looked around for courses in my area but have found nothing as yet (which is unusual considering the amount of orchards in the area as well as Comvita NZ having their head office and factory/warehouse just down the road!) by joining this forum and posting this thread i am hoping to hear from any beekeepers or people working in the bee industry in the bay of plenty area, and really just get some advice on what steps i may need to take to enter this industry, and if there is any work or training opportunities in the bop. any information would be greatly appreciated!
Hi Caleb, a group of new and well seasoned beekeepers is regulary meeting in Tauranga every month for a coffee and a chat. Our next one will be Sunday July 1, 2pm at Fernz cafe at the Welcome Bay roundabout, you are most welcome to join us. Please send me a message if you want to be included in our e-mail list.

Welcome to you as well Dennis. The NZBF has a number of ways that people can make contact with you, are you really sure you want your phone number publicly visible to anyone on the internet?
Ok thanks Grant maybe a bit hastie with that, how can I have someone contact me with out everyone finding out?
If someone wants to contact you without everyone knowing than they can use conversations. Sent from my phone using tapatalk
